Q.  Can I sterilize myself or someone else with ContraPestTM or ChemSpayTM ?

A.  No, it would take a tremendous amount of the product via injections over a long period of time to affect a human.

Q.  Does your product affect the food chain?

A.  No, if a predatory animal ate an animal that was treated with our product, it would not become sterilized because the product is excreted out of the animal after a short period of time as harmless urine with no ability to harm other animals, humans or the environment.

Q. Does your product affect the land or environment

A.  No, our products are environmentally neutral.  The product is excreted out of the animal after a short period of time as harmless urine with no ability to harm other animals, humans or the environment.

Q.  Does your product hurt the animals that eat it?

A.  No, our products are not poisons and do not hurt the animals that come in contact with them.

Q.  If a different animal, like a feral dog or cat, ate the bait in the fields would they become sterilized also?

A.  No, each bait formulation is species specific and only has enough of the active ingredient to sterilize the target animal.  Like most bait stations, the ones that will be the receptacles for ContraPest will restrict access to small mammals only.

Q. What if a person/child/pet eats it?

A.  The average weight of a rice field rat is 250 g. The bait is formulated to the size/weight of the target species.  If a child/adult/pet ate the bait, it would take an inordinate amount of the bait over several days to have an adverse effect.  Also, the bait contains a harmless chemical that gives it a very unpleasant bitter taste to humans, making the bait unpalatable.

Q.  What happens if the rat that eats ContraPestTM is pregnant?

A.  The pups are sterile when they are born.

Q. Is there risk to human handlers that are putting the bait out?

A.  No, the way in which ContraPest is formulated a human handler would not receive a significant dose even if they decided to eat it, which we find highly unlikely.  In addition, the active ingredient cannot be inhaled by this route of exposure.
